Yoga FAQ

Who can do yoga?

People of all ages and abilities can benefit greatly from practicing yoga.

How do I get started?

If you are brand new to yoga, you may want to take a few private classes or introductory level hatha to learn the basic poses. Even if you are already in great shape, take a few beginner's classes to learn the poses and minimize your risk of injury. The best way to start is to pick a class description that interests you and give it a try!

How many people are in one class?

We open our studio to a maximum of ten people per class. The goal of our studio is to provide individualized instruction for people who are serious about practicing yoga. Yoga is not an inexpensive activity and we feel that small class sizes will help our students optimize their investment in themselves by having better access to our wonderful instructors.

Is yoga safe?

Yoga is very safe particularly when practiced under the supervision of a certified yoga instructor. Not only have these instructors been practicing on their own for many years, they have many hours of experience helping other students practice safely. Students should also realize that yoga is about acceptance, you must accept where you are starting from and slowly move towards improving your ability.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, breathable clothing is recommended. All yoga classes are done in bare feet so no special footwear is required.

What should I bring?

We suggest that you bring a mat of your own to each class but we also have some mats available for rent in the studio.

How often should I practice yoga?

The more you practice, the better! Practicing once per week is significantly better than not at all. If your schedule allows for only one class per week, it is recommended that you continue your practice at home as this additional time will benefit you tremendously. It is suggested that you practice three times per week or more to continue to get improvements, however there is no minimum number that is required.
